Bhaktapur, September 23. A seven-day Girl Scout cycle training program, organized by the Himalayan Glory Scout Troop, was concluded today. The training, held with the technical support of the Neo Fusion Open Rover Ranger Crew, saw the participation of 36 scout members.
The closing ceremony of the program was held under the chief auspices of Rabindra Kharbuja, the President of the 45th Nepal Bhasha Literature Ta:mujya. Emphasizing the role of literature and art in raising awareness in society, he stated that Scouts play an important role in developing a sense of patriotism and social service.
Speaking as the special guest at the event, Balakrishna Banamala, the Chief Commissioner of the Bhaktapur Municipality Local Scout Council, described Scout education as the ‘nectar’ that teaches practical life skills to children. He mentioned that Scout education teaches youth discipline, unity, and how to move forward even in difficult situations.
The program coordinator, Nhuja Kiju, highlighted the importance of women’s cycling, stating that this initiative was started to teach cycling to adolescent girls. He informed that although it was challenging initially, the enthusiasm of the participants has inspired them to expand it to other schools as well.
The chairperson of the program and Principal of Himalayan Glory English School, Krishna Ram Twanabasu, expressed his happiness that scout activities have been successfully run in his school for the past 15 years and that it has greatly contributed to the academic and personality development of the students.
The program, which was welcomed by Pushpa Prajapati, the Community Development Commissioner of the Local Scout Council and the School’s Scout Master, also featured speeches from Rover Bimal Bahal, Scout student Suvekchya Pakka, and Shreshna Sanju.
