Jestha 18, Sunday. On the occasion of Sithi Nakha, a festival dedicated to cleaning water sources and spouts, various programs were organized at Himalayan Glory English School, located at Shahid Smriti Sports Ground.
On this day, students from grades 4 and 5 visited local neighborhoods and observed residents cleaning wells. Meanwhile, students from grades 6 and 7 cleaned the stone water spouts and temples near the school. Additionally, students from playgroup to grade 6 prepared and enjoyed a special Sithi Nakha feast, including Wa (a traditional dish) and Chatamari (rice crepes). Teachers provided instructions on how to prepare these dishes and gave each student a chance to cook.

School in-charge teacher Kamalshwari Kharbuja explained that while families traditionally cook festive dishes together at home, children often do not get direct involvement. Hence, such programs were organized at the school to engage students.
Similarly, the school also celebrated the Bhotō Jātrā (a traditional chariot procession of Karunamaya), where students listened to various legends associated with the festival. They participated by drawing and coloring pictures of Karunamaya’s chariot and the Bhotō (a sacred image).

Pushpa Prajapati, the coordinator of the school’s extracurricular activities committee, noted that such programs, along with the active involvement of students and parents, contribute to the social development of children. The school continues to organize timely activities to foster learning and cultural engagement.
